This course includes the study of basic methods and materials of secondary teaching, classroom management, and student evaluation. We will discuss the rationale behind these methods, as well as how to incorporate these methods and PDE’s Common Ground Framework into the middle and high school classroom. This course requires 20 hours of Field Experience.

The course I revised is EDU508 Secondary School Methods and Materials. This course is in the Master Teacher and Special Education Program, which is a fully online accelerated program. The course is 7 weeks long and is taken by students who are in the Secondary Education track within the program. This course requires students to design a Project Based Learning unit with other group members, so I think the Competencies I chose to incorporate apply to both the learner aspect as well as the educator aspect. I hoped to learn how to make minor adjustments and implement minor changes that make a major impact in student learning.
