Course Description
Program Element Description
This course provides an analysis of the philosophical, anthropological, sociological, economic and historical foundations of the contemporary PK-12 school system in the United States; more specifically how issues of race, ethnicity, language, gender, disability, sexual orientation, geography, socioeconomics, and religion influence the profession of teaching in particular grade level contexts.
Course Syllabi
Why was this course your focus?
“I selected the EDFN 211 course because it is a foundational course that all of our education majors take early in their program. The intent is to expose our pre-service teachers to all of the CRSE competencies and have them self-reflect on #1, 2, and 9. Additionally, they have a field placement as part of this course, and they are asked to reflect on the other competencies while in their assigned classroom.”
